Baseball is classified as an "Equivalency Sport" which means that coaches can "share" their allocation of scholarships between many players. What this means, for example, a coach can divide the scholarships allocated between a larger number of baseball players. Say 20 partial instead of 12 full ride scholarships. Of course the percentage of scholarship coincides with the coaches assessment of a players contribution to the team so there are possibilities of a “Full Ride” for those players that the coach feels will make a great impact.
The NCAA allows each division 1 baseball program 11.78 scholarships and in division 2 there
There are 285 division 1 and 230 division 2 colleges that offer NCAA baseball scholarships.
That's a total of 5,428 scholarships in the NCAA alone. Remember, these scholarships can be divided among many players therefore allowing more opportunities.
