Men's gymnastics and Division II, women's gymnastics are classified as “Equivalency Sport” This means that coaches can "share" their allocation between a larger number of gymnasts. Division I women's gymnastics is classified as a "Head Count Sport" therefore 12 FULL-RIDE SCHOLARSHIPS are awarded by each college in Division I. The NCAA allows each Division I gymnastics program 6.3 scholarships for men and 12 for women. In Division II the ratio is 5.4 scholarships for men and 6 for women.
In total there are about 810 gymnastic scholarships available to girls in the NCAA alone.
