Women's volleyball is classified as a "Head Count Sport", which means that the women’s volleyball scholarships that are offered are traditionally “Full Ride” since whether the percentage is 5% or 100% it is counted as one scholarship. Men's volleyball is classified as an “Equivalency Sport” which means that coaches can "share" their allocation between a larger number of players.
The NCAA allows each Division I Volleyball program 4.5 scholarships for Men and 12 for women. In Division 2 there are 4.5 for men and 8 for women. The NAIA allows for 12 scholarships.
There are approximately 7,500 scholarships available in women’s volleyball.
